February Mentors in the Spotlight

Each month we honor mentors who go above and beyond. This month we are excited to announce that Chris Cisneros (Chief Joseph Middle) and Gina Carolan (Irving Elementary), are our February Mentors in the Spotlight!  Congratulations, Chris and Gina!

CAP Mentor:

Chris Cisneros – Chief Joseph Elementary School

CAP Mentor Chris Cisneros and her mentee at Chief Joseph Middle School

Chris has been an incredible CAP Mentor to her student for the past 5 years! She is consistent and caring, reliable and fun–just what her student needs to help him feel more confident at school. Chris takes time each week to think of fun activities for her and her mentee to work on to encourage creativity, critical thinking, and laughter. We are so grateful to have Chris as a CAP Mentor at CJMS!

Chris’s student shared that “she is an extraordinary friend who is like a toolbox to a mechanic”. He’s grateful to see her every week and looks forward to playing games every Wednesday.

CAP Mentor:

Gina Carolan – Irving Elementary

CAP Mentor Gina Carolan with her mentees at Irving Elementary

Big hearts shape little minds, and Gina Carolan is impacting little minds in big ways! Gina is an incredible CAP mentor who has been volunteering her time to CAP since 2015. Gina is a well known face around Irving, and she has been meeting with two students at Irving for the past two school years. Gina comes twice a week to read and play learning games with the girls, and she pours her time and energy into each hour she spends with them. One of the mentees said, “I like it when she tells me her stories!” Her other mentee summed up the experience with these words “I love the whole entire CAP mentor thing!” Thank you, Gina, for all that you do and the positive difference you are making!
