Each month we honor mentors who go above and beyond. This month we are excited to announce that Trish Sherman (Bozeman High School), Alia Abramson (Morning Star Elementary), and Carol Banghart (Meadowlark Elementary) are our March Mentors in the Spotlight! Congratulations, Trish, Alia, and Carol!
CAP Mentor:
Trish Sherman (Bozeman High School)
Trish is a delight to have as a CAP Mentor at BHS. She is kind, flexible, and gifted in working with students. Trish does an incredible job making their time student-focused, offers activity ideas, and patiently pivots to meet her student where she is at. Trish encourages and supports her mentee while gently challenging her to continue striving. Thank you for your dedication, Trish!
CAP Mentor:
Alia Abramson (Morning Star Elementary)
Alia Abramson has been a CAP mentor at Morning Star since 2022, and she is such an amazing one! She and her mentee are always busy making projects or art, playing games and connecting through their goals. When her mentee wanted to work on a reading goal, they created a reading log to track the books they were sharing. Sometimes they do extension activities from the stories they read and this is where Alia’s creativity shines. A recent example was designing their own parks and sharing all the fun details after reading a story that took place in a park. Alia’s dedication to CAP mentoring is evident as she has stuck with us through an out of state move and return, getting married, and having a baby! Alia always arrives with a smile and is such a thoughtful and supportive mentor. We are so grateful to have her at Morning Star.
CAP Mentor:
Carol Banghart (Meadowlark Elementary)
Carol and her mentee have been matched for 3 years at Meadowlark Elementary! Carol’s visits are a bright spot in her mentee’s week. Carol has introduced her mentee to a journal practice that frequently focuses on gratitude. She has also taught her mentee many new games. Her mentee shared that she loves drawing with her mentor and playing games. Meadowlark is so grateful for your time and thoughtfulness. Thank you Carol for being a part of CAP!
